I'm very interested in mathematics but realise that the job opportunities are really bad for that major. Im trying to decide between economics and computer science, both of which I also really enjoy. What are the pay grades normally in those majors? Unemployment rates? Am I likely to end up in a dead end job or be able to climb the ladder of a company? Etc.

You can do applied mathematics and combine Econ and computer science.

I still have about a year to decide, so ill try to take an econ. class and see how I like it. ive already done an internship in comp. sci. and really enjoyed it.

Once you get into college and take a few classes, it will become much more evident about what you like. There is an association for applied math. Its acronym is SIAM. You might do amgoogle search and look at some of the jobs to see whether anything looks interesting. Both of my kids liked high school economics.

Unfortunately, my highschool doesn’t offer economics so Ill be taking a college course. It should make it easier to make a decision then.
