TTUISD or Local Highschool?

I'm currently a sophomore enrolled in Texas Tech University Independent School District. However, the problem is that TTUISD doesn't offer AP or any sort of higher level courses. I would like to go to a decent school and major in aerospace, so I'm worried that my lack of advanced courses will limit my options. I would prefer to stay home and continue with this current school where I can go at my own pace, but if it's going to hurt my chances at colleges then I'm willing to switch.

Would I be better off switching to a public school?

Is there a reason why you couldn’t take some classes related to your career goals at a nearby community college or 4-year institution? Lots of homeschoolers pick more advanced classes up that way.

If you are in Lubbock, maybe you can take university courses and get dual credit instead of AP. That might allow you to follow the path you want while also proving y ou have the intellectual ability to handle higher levels.

The courses I’ve seen and the students I’ve known who have taken high school courses through Texas Tech indicate that the quality and rigor are no where close to what you would get at the vast majority of public schools. How are you completing lab courses? My recommendation would be a public or private school or community college. You will get a much better education.

You have several options. There are online dual credit programs through UT Arlington and Lamar University. There are also plenty of community colleges that are doing online dual credit. You can take online AP classes through places like Keystone, K12, or the Florida Virtual High school (there are lots of programs). You can not take an online class at all and self-study for the AP classes and take the exams. You would have to create your own course descriptions and transcript for this. Are you sure TTUISD doesn’t offer dual credit? I know that the UT Austin program does and offers discounted tuition through its online program for students in its high school program.
