Does the architectural studies program at Tufts help students get a start to their portfolios if they plan on pursuing an MArch degree? I wold like a program that’s studio and classroom mixed (heavy studio architecture would make it very hard for me to double major). Does this program have a good balance of studio time and classroom time? I want to pair it with a major in environmental science to hopefully work on sustainable design/urbanism for graduate school. Anyone know how Tufts’ placement is for MArch programs?
Yes the program has a balance between studio and lectures. There are several courses which train students in online design programs, AutoCAD, 3DsMax etc. Additionally ever semester or so the architectural studies department will hold portfolio workshops to help students organize their work. From what I know, a lot of students go on to top graduate programs. Last semester the GSD at Harvard offered a personalized tour for graduating students last year. Hope this helps.
