Tufts, Brandeis, vs WashU for pre-med?

Hello there,
I am a senior this year looking into colleges good for pre-med, particularly pre-dental. I consider myself fairly strong in chemistry and biology, having taken AP Chemistry and AP Biology. While I did well in those classes, I was by no means the best, and I had to work much harder than other classmates to get the good grades.

After considering student life, size, and location, I came down to these 3 schools.

My original thought was to go to WashU because it is the most prestigious for pre-med. However, that may not be a good thing as while i heard its not cutthroat there, its competitive for sure, and with all the top students in one place, I am not so sure I will come out on top. While I may get the highest quality learning there, my (probably lower) GPA may hold me back.

Tufts and Brandeis have less competitive pre-med students compared to WashU, so I would feel its slightly more relaxed. That is the kind of environment that will lead me to work better. However, I am not sure which one is better. Anyone have any input? Anything helps!

Also, if you have any possible suggestions for colleges, I’m open to hear!

Thanks in advance.

That is a real concern. I’m not sure that you won’t find that at Tufts, too…lots of very strong students there as well. I don’t know enough about Brandeis.

? Who says that?

WashU is top university, but I’ve never heard that it’s “the most prestigious for pre-med.”. And, WashU don’t give a preference to their own undergrads for med school, so if you were thinking you’d have a leg-up into their SOM, you won’t.

What is your budget? How much will parents pay?

What is your home state?

Any of these three would be a good choice for pre-med. Med schools don’t really care where you went to undergrad; they care that you did well in your classes and got the kind of experience they expect pre-meds to have.

Why don’t you apply to two of them (along with safeties and matches) and decide once you’ve received your acceptances?
