You're beginning to sound like my freshly neutered dog. Did Tufts really emasculate you to the point where you feel compelled to attack it ad nauseam? And, no less, in its own forum?

Now beat a retreat back to the Northwestern section where I'm sure you'll be able to confirm your bias against Tufts with all the other Northwestern students.

So I was rejected from Tufts, which was one of my top three choices, and am admittedly bitter about it. However, the grieving period is coming to an end, and I am moving on and coming to terms with the wonderful choices I have left (which include Hopkins, Wesleyan, and Maryland Honors). I am just wondering, has Tufts become a reach for just about anyone now? I was honestly a little surpised by my rejection, but now I feel that I underestimated the school. Aside from the valedictorians and super-legacy kids, it looks as if just about anyone can get rejected from Tufts. Would you all agree? Is Tufts turning into a "crap-shoot" school?

For most of the people who applied from my school it was a reach. For me persoanlly it was a reach. Tufts has definitly change over the past couple years and is recieving (like many schools) a huge increase in applications. I do think it has become a little bit of a crap shoot because there are just so many qualified applicants (again this is true for a lot of schools this year). I believe that the admit rate was somewhere between 20%-25% this year which puts it on the list of "most selective" schools in the country.

Congrats on Dartmouth and Cornell! It's a shame you have to go to Tufts.

Congrats on caring so much about the prestige of your college! Too bad you couldn't get into any Ivys :(

lol actually he can't because the other Northwestern students aren't so laughable and pathetic.

I'm really sad that some people are trying to complain when they get in and not get in. As a hopeful myself, it really pains my heart to see wasting time over "CC top universities" or not. Even that ranking list is a bit bias IMO. I hope these guys would stop this.

Anyways, congrats to those who have got in! I still haven't checked my decision yet (lol), as I don't want the big fat rejection affect my A-level exams >_<

Please recognize the understandably turbulent emotions that come with decisions. If one of our forum goers feels the need to vent their frustrations, let them do so in peace, but there's no need to call attention to their bitterness or sadness in an unproductive way.

Chapst1ck, I appreciate what you are trying to do, but let posters like zlyons889 have their say without fanning the flames. Admissions decisions are not a reflection of an individuals worth or value, and if we give people a space to vent without reacting, it'll help all of us move on faster.

I completely understand Zlyons889 disappointment with the decision at Tufts. But I guess what I don't understand is why he applied there in the first place. If you don't like a school, and if being in the CC top schools is important, then why waste the application, and more importantly, waste the time of the people who wrote recommendations for you, sent transcripts etc? Perhaps its just the shock of a surprise decision that is causing some temporary foaming at the mouth. I've been there! Anyway, congrats to all who were accepted, and for those who weren't, no doubt you will find the right school for you! Be happy, enjoy college!!

And thanks to all who are kind enough to post their statistics, even when the news isn't good. There are plenty of future applicants scanning these posts to get an idea of what's in store for them a year or two down the road--

I find the whole idea of people fighting over Northwestern and Tufts to be laughable. I was rejected from Tufts, so maybe I'm a little bias toward Zylons position, but, nonetheless, I laugh at both of you. I laugh not because of the university I'll be attending next year is better than wherever you may be headed, but because the likes of you, who are willing to argue over something as trite as the discrepancies between two of the highest rated universities in the nation, are actually being accepted at them. To me it seems like you both have some sort of social imbalance where intellectual competition has lead to a "chip on your shoulder" sort of attitude where you need not only be better than others academically, but you need to flaunt it. I thought character was important, but it seems like maybe that's not always the case.

Sorry, Anna Molly, I remember from you previous posts how much you wanted to attend Tufts. My daughter was also rejected. She is OK (she knew it was a long shot) and we are going to revisit the schools who did accept her.

It makes me a little sad, but the threads get more vicious every year as everyone gets more upset. It's a terrible cycle really. I'm glad it's over with for me - I really don't envy that kind of stress as that sort of anxiety I felt 6 years ago was more than enough.

[] Essays: The one about my roots was about how my family has affected me (and not all of it was pleasant--I just tried to be honest and use my voice). The one about "me" was a complete joke. I wrote it to be funny, and then I decided it was actually good.
