Tufts Class of 2020 ED thread

@drake8nguyen Great to see another international student here! I’m from Taiwan though
I expect I’d be deferred but I’m still both nervous and excited about the decisions! Gah!

@jenniferwang1025 I figure you’re in IB too?

@drake8nguyen Nope! Local high school student here… Not very common haha

good luck to everyone when decisions come out tomorrow or the 15th!!! can’t wait to hear how everyone did!

I feel like maybe they will come out Tuesday, because wouldn’t have Tufts send us a confirmation email about the decisions coming out tomorrow already? Maybe not. I really hope they come out tomorrow…

I HAVE A 3.5 TOO! but also my school is hard like i got a B in ap us and then scored a 5 on the exam and a 720 on the subject test. i want to major in history and do prelaw so hopefully it gives them an idea that I am strong in what I want to study. (i am weak in math) @rj1997 I think you have a chance of getting in for sure. and I feel the same… i don’t expect an admission letter, I am kind of expected to get denied so Im focusing a lot of attention on boston college (my second choice).

@jesr1121 NO WAY I WANT TO DO POLI SCI/PRE LAW! And BC is such a great school too

@plsletmeintufts I think it’s actually pretty common for colleges to give little to no warning as to when they release a decision, especially colleges that receive a lot of applications. Often they just email the day of or even wait until decisions are live on the portal to email you saying that decisions are ready.

I got into UPitt honors college a few days ago, and there was no notification prior to the decision.

Chance me please? I’m terrified!!
I have a 93/100 GPA, but no idea what it is weighted, 7th best public school in the nation though
34 ACT
Over 10 APs, mostly 5 and 4s
I also sail, I’m Captain of the team at my school, and i’m looking forward to hopefully sail at Tufts.

So how sure are we that decisions will be posted tomorrow at 3 pm east coast time?

I understand that you guys are nervous and trying to gain some sense of comparison or justification if you are rejected. My son got in with a 29 ACT. Relax, you are more than a test score. Your college experience should also be more than getting a certain grade so start thinking that way now. You are setting yourselves up for stress and poor perspective if it is about your grades or scores only now of in the future. In fact, Tufts is looking for kids who differentiate themselves from that metric and will do great things in the future based on measuring success in different ways. That is why Tufts is “cool”. That is why Tufts students and alum tend to do great things; they aren’t normal in terms of being satisfied by a metric. It ain’t only about grades and scores, it is about competence to make great things happen in the future. Good luck!

@Minnesotagirl12 I am also from MN! What city are you from?

@OnePorkchop Thank you for saying that. So true. I love Tufts so much(much of it is due to the reasons you listed above) and I really really want to get in(well… duh… I applied ED.) I am not one of those students who only cares about grades and test scores(In fact, my test scores are subpar…) I generally do well in school because I have always like earning good grades, but this is a product of me enjoying learning and setting goals for myself. I’m also just exhausted. Mentally and physically. The idea of being done with the college process tomorrow… That would be insane. Even though this forum is probably perpetuating anxiety and obviously unable to change anyone’s fate(I’m trying to tell myself that all of the decisions are already made, there is nothing we can do about it), it’s so hard to stay off of it. We’ll find out soon enough.

I’m obsessing about this decision. I’ve been putting off homework today and have just been reading everything I can. I really hope we get the decisions tomorrow afternoon because I can’t wait much longer.

@plsletmeintufts I totally feel you on that. At this point I just can’t imagine going through this process anymore.

@OnePorkchop Thanks so much, that was actually very comforting. What year did your son graduate?

I have seen these type of posts for years and totally see your position. Tufts will never define you - nor should any school. You need to be sure to have confidence that you are you, regardless of the school you attend. And, that everyone is unique, just like you. If you go to Tufts, great. If not, great - you should have a path that takes you to success because of your persistence. Many kids right now want the ego shot to say they got in to X school. But in reality it could be a horrible experience if attending for the wrong reason. The fact that you are already exhausted is understandable, but it shouldn’t be that way. To me, it is important to have the right fit and grow wherever you are planted. All schools are just vehicles to support you and your ambition, not the other way around. Half of what you read about any school is bogus so just stay calm and be prepared to do your best wherever you end up. I understand that it is also important to strive for a school you perceive to want to attend as well. That is why this is all so confusing and exhausting - I get it. How good is a school, really? Until you, specifically you attend each and every one (which is impossible), you will never know. I can only give you one more thought as a person graduating long ago from two schools with an advanced degree. All schools will be somewhat different than you thought once you actually attend one. Advertising and marketing from all are in full effect. But, you can succeed anywhere with the right attitude - go for it! I say don’t let anyone tell you you are not good enough wherever you get in or don’t. Ultimately you will end up somewhere that is hopefully the best fit for you.
All this said, for my kid, Tufts has been way different than expected - very hard at first and now pretty cool and a great experience (now a Junior). Best of luck!

Any chance of getting in with a 2090 SAT? Grades and extracurriculars are very good…I’m trying to tell myself I’m not getting in, but a part of me still hopes I will :-S

@katief8 i’ve been checking up on this thread for a few days now and you’re super active in it - i hope you hear good news!!

@Nygirl82 The score is low for Tufts, but it’s a holistic application review, so if you write amazing essays, you have a chance.

@collegeissoon123 Thank you! I hope you do as well : )
