Agree with the other parents and professionals who actually hire people. I rarely pick a candidate based on where their degree is from. I’ve seen grads of highly respected schools falter, while hard workers from “lesser” schools thrive. Life is what you make of it, and personality is a big part of being successful in many industries. So don’t stress too much seniors, you will end up where you are supposed to be, and your success will be mostly determined by your drive and hard work. Good luck to all!
enjin8…I do have a question for you, as an ivy grad. Once someone identifies an opportunity the job will go to the best fit/most qualified candidate, regardless of where their degree is from. However, would you say that being an ivy grad presented you with more opportunities and connections upon graduation and beyond than other schools might have? I struggle with that for our D. She’ll most likely get a rejection from Brown (and Tufts, her reach schools), and Emerson is a better fit for her program-wise, but I always wonder if the opportunity an ivy provides is something you cant pass up, if you get accepted.
Guys, here’s a little reminder: this year, Tufts had a record number of applications. God knows how many of those applicants are well-qualified for the spot. A rejection is not something against our abilities; we just didn’t make the cut. I know it’s going to be tough, but we need to stay strong.
@ NJ2020, you got it right. My D has the same story. She is anticipating two rejections today and I know so many of the kids on this thread feel the same. It’s good to hear you say that it really makes no difference where someone goes to college. The important thing is to make the most of opportunities and work hard.
I of course hope my D gets accepted and I hope all you other kids reading this do too, but I am at least very happy that my kid has some other great choices. I hope all of you do as well. If anyone read the Deans message, it really is a ridiculously difficult task for them to make a class, when 80% of the applicants are qualified. Good luck!
^^ last year they were released at 3pm in each time zone, so people in California for example had to wait three hours after they were released in MA. Idk if a VPN could work to get around this system, but if I get bored I might give it a shot. For international I think they might just be released at the same time as East Coast decisions.
I saw on the Tuft’s Admission blog that 16,000 applicants were academically eligible for acceptance, but the incoming class is only about 1400 students. It’s crazy! good luck everyone!
Every school had record applications this year. It is becoming more common for students to apply to more schools because admission is that much more difficult because more people are applying. Very vicious cycle.
@premstudent do you mind me asking where you heard that? I’m gonna in the midst of tennis practice at 3 and I don’t want to be obsessively checking my phone unless they really will be out then haha
