Tufts Class of 2020 RD Applicants

@lawrencethejumbo I did the math off of last years info myself. I didn’t count ED students, which that article might have. Sorry if the information I posted was wrong.

Does anyone have even the slightest hint of when we should be getting decisions? I know that Tufts doesn’t post or send anything to us about decisions until they’re posted, but I was wondering if anyone called or talked to their regional admissions officers or anything.

@ellesea The Tufts website says decisions will be sent out by April 1.

^ which means pretty much nothing, but as the time between now and then gets shorter it becomes a little more possible to guess, like if Tufts releases next week they’ll want to do it Monday or Tuesday ahead of Ivy Day

Yes, I’m guessing decisions will be out at some point next week. It seems like they usually release on either the 31 or 30 so we can probably expect to hear back then.

Does anyone know how negatively it impacts you to not do an interview?

My guess is Monday March 28. Tufts has released on Mondays and Fridays in past years.

I requested an interview and never heard back. Does that mean they are not interested?

@engineering2020 When did you request an interview and what state are you from? Most likely there wasn’t anyone available in your area to do an interview due to either timing or the number of Tufts alumni in your area. I was contacted by my interviewer almost immediately after requesting an interview, but I applied ED1 and I’m from MA so that was probably why. You aren’t penalized for not interviewing so it’s okay!

@rhartman24 you have nothing to worry about! not having an interview does not penalize you in anyway. Having it or not having it won’t make or break your application

Thanks!

I can’t wait for decision day! I already got into Vandy RD but the moment I stepped on Tufts’ campus I felt an instant connection. I hope Tufts returns the love by accepting me.

I want to attend Tufts so much that it hurts! :frowning:

@aralis I get that feeling! I applied to Harvard, Stanford, Upenn, Vandy and a couple others, but Tufts was just like love at first sight. Getting into Vandy sort of reduces all the pressure but I really really want to get into Tufts.

@just123098 Congrats on Vandy!! (I’m a fresh reject, hahahaha). What did you like about Tufts? I couldn’t visit because I live out of the country, but it is my top school from what I’ve seen. I’ve been obsessing since last year. :open_mouth:

^^ I live in CT so I’ve been a few times for football games and stuff and it’s one of my favorite campuses ever! There’s an amazing sky deck looking over Boston and it’s so beautiful and easy to navigate

Is Tufts need-aware for domestic first-year applicants? Can’t find a clear answer online

@mech423 yes, they are.

Yes, Tufts is need aware. However, its need-awareness only applies to about 5% of the applicant pool, 95% of all applicants are evaluated without taking family finances into consideration. I think Tufts is trying its best to make financial aid accessible to more applicants because it seems the budget for FA increases almost every year. Also, remember Tufts promises to meet 100% of your demonstrated need. I couldn’t be happier with the aid I got from Tufts. It was awesome!
