Tufts ED II or RD

So my intended career pursuit is to be a doctor and I am deciding on whether to ED II Tufts or to chose RD. I really love Tufts. It is an amazing school and I really want to go there. I loved the atmosphere there! I also applied to a lot of 7yr programs and I got several of my applications forwarded to the med schools. If I get into a 7yr program, I would get a full ride and wouldnt have to worry about the MCATS. My chances for the program are slim however because I had very little hospital volunteer hours (100hrs). On the other hand if I do apply RD, I feel my chances of getting into tufts would fall dramatically because there are smarter people than me applying to it as a safety. Their GPA is 3 points higher on a 100 point scale and their SAT is 50 points higher than mine. I feel that I won't get accepted if I apply RD. So this is the situation. My parents want me to apply RD so that I can choose but I feel that if I do so, I would risk my chances of acceptance at Tufts. I am really confused.. Any advice?

My son was in your situation 2 years ago. He applied to several 7 year program, some Ivies and Tufts. He didn’t do ED anywhere because 7 year programs don’t let you know until some time in April. He got an interview in one 7 year program around end of December. But like you he didn’t have a lot of hospital hours. And I believe this is why he didn’t get into that 7 year program. He had great credential otherwise and after interview the acceptance rate to program was 50%. But I guess we’ll never know. The bottom line is, he got into Tufts RD and is extremely happy there. He’s currently a sophomore on a premed track.
Did you know that Tufts has an early assurance program for entrance to Tufts medical school open to all sophomores? If you get into that program, you don’t need to take MCATs.
I would listen to your parents and keep your options open. Whatever happens and wherever you end up will be great! Just make sure you’re also applying to a good back up school that you’ll be happy with.
