Tufts EDII 2025

Thank you for your positive thinking!

I have always been anti-testing because I don’t believe standardized tests are a fair evaluation for all students, especially in the case of international students who have never studied math or the sciences in English. Plus, with my eldest son we actually had to travel to another state and stay in a hotel for the ACT, and I swore to myself, “Never again.” After that experience, my kids’ target schools have always been test-optional, so we really lucked out this year in having more choices due to the pandemic!

I used to conduct in-person alumnae interviews for my alma mater (before the internet), so I realize they are not essential, but it would have been a good experience for him. He has one scheduled for Saturday for another school that is very active here in Europe, but I’m sorry we did not find out about the Tufts interview in time.

good luck to everyone! 2 days away! :grimacing:

Did anyone else request an interview but not get one? Do they do them by regions? We are on the west coast.

I requested one and got one and I am on the west coat. I honestly think they are random, and just another demonstrated interest factor. The fact that you requested one shows interest.

I am being recruited and I asked the coach if I should submit my 1410 (superscore). He said no so I went test optional

not sure if this helps

How long did your interviews last for?

about 50 minutes

I heard that Tufts followed suit with most of the other elite universities with a 35% rise in applications this year. This makes me a lot more anxious haha, but best of luck to everyone here applying EDII!

After an ED1 rejection we’re really hoping for an acceptance, or at least a deferral. The apps are up, but there aren’t necessarily more student to fill slots so maybe the schools will need to increase the acceptance rate in preparation for a lower yield?

Don’t worry, if you are in a rural area they may not have anyone that covers your area. Also with 35,000 apps they could not possibly give everyone an interview.

That many?! Oh, wow. Well, tomorrow’s the big day!

They were up 35% this year. I wouldn’t stress about the interview.

Good Luck!!! If deferred write LOCI…it helps. Happened to me last year and I’m a freshman at Tufts now.

Congratulations! Do you have any data for legacy applicants?

No I don’t. Are you legacy?

Funny, I would love more data, as my brother will be applying next year. I know they consider it but not sure to what extent.

Did any of you guys manage to get your second quarter grades sent in? I am nervous since my first quarter grades were considerably worse than my second quarter ones because of online learning, other apps, etc. Hoping for a deferral so that they can see them at some point, but who knows !! The decision day is almost here

Sorry to hear about those term 1 grades, it really is annoying not to have a chance to show progress. It’s been a challenging year and hopefully that will be taken in to account. Our son did not have a chance to submit grades as we started school mid-Sept and they are not available until next week. Agreed: keep kicking butt and consider sending a LOCI if you get a deferral. Good luck!

My son could not send grades either - he had surgery in November, and missed 5 weeks of school, including exam week.

My mum and grandmother both attended Tufts. I went to Mount Holyoke (so no legacy for my boys ) and my intention was to have done a Master’s at Fletcher, but my lifeplan changed somewhere along the way. Maybe when I grow up.

I had read a couple of scathing articles about legacy admissions at Tufts (elitism, unfair, etc), which I fully understand. But I also fully understand that my family has been making donations to the school for nearly 100 years (although I doubt anyone will actually figure that out - they haven’t been million-dollar donations!).

My oldest son is at WPI, and they very much favor legacy applicants who are younger siblings of current students with better merit aid. Hopefully Tufts will do the same for your brother!

Tomorrow’s the big day!
