Tufts Ranking

Why do you think Tufts dropped in the Forbes college rankings so much this year?

Why should it matter?

Since in one year schools do not change much, the existence of large changes (either up or down) in ranking positions from year to year would seem to indicate a deficiency in the ranking system.

I more just wonder if tufts changed something in its curriculum to cause this change or if it is relatively random.

What @merc81 wrote is your answer, it has nothing to do with the curriculum or anything else, colleges are not price fighters, pop songs (top 40…) or football teams.

Forget the rankings – either Tufts is a good fit for you or it isn’t.

I have yet to meet anyone in the professional world (including academia) that takes the Forbes rankings seriously.

The Forbes ranking is a joke. Ignore. Their website is also awful - full of SPAM, so don’t go there and support their awful platform and crappy rankings methodology.

Tufts is brilliant, as are dozens of other colleges and universities. Their respective institutional quality cannot be captured or measured statistically.

That being said, Forbes still ranks Tufts among the top 30 national research universities, so I would not be too alarmed.
