Why is Tufts University not listed in the CC top universities?

I wasn’t sure where to put this question, so I am posing it to the parent experts here. What’s up with this? I’ve notice for several years that Tufts is not pulled into the “top” list. I am wondering what drives that decision. Is there some kind of inside info in academic circles? The external data are no different from or exceed the statistics of many of the other universities on the list (e.g., Emory, Georgetown).

So … what’s up with this?

I think it’s based on subjective factors.

Seems like the petition of schools into categories like Ivy and “top” universities and colleges simply reinforces many of the problematic ways of viewing colleges that I thought this site was designed to counter. I guess not.

Such as?

Such is that it isn’t a top college? Then again, when the list of “top university” runs a couple pages you’ve got to question its value.

It’s a subjective listing, started early on, that’s more based on popularity (at the time) than anything else. Forums for Emory, for example, are much more active than the one for Tufts. It really doesn’t mean anything.

If the start adding colleges to these list, they would be swamped with “Why not my college!” request, so it’s best to leave it be…just think of it as a “sampling” of colleges…

Well if you go by USNWR Tulane is ranked 44, UNC Chapel Hill is 30 andU of Michigan is 27 and are all in CC’s top universities. Tufts is 27 and is not. I do think its forum get less traffic because it’s not listed there.

Tufts syndrome?? #-o

My opinion is they should delete that “top universities” section altogether. Just have the lists of colleges.

Oh…and delete the special section for the Ivy League too.

@brantley operators of this site. Did not want to say in public.

I always thought that listing was based on site traffic. Those forums are more active than others so they get a direct link without having to go through the alphabetical listing.
