Tufts Transfer Chances with Legacy

I'm aware of how incredibly competitive Tufts admissions is, especially for Transfers. That said, my stats may not be as impressive as others. All things considered, I'm hoping you guys will give me an unbiased idea if I have a good chance of being accepted or not.

Currently in my sophomore year at Framingham State University. Was undeclared, took a number of different courses, in computer science, nutrition and psychology. I am declaring psychology as my major and plan on going to graduate school to get my Psy.D. and become a therapist.

College GPA: Currently 3.54, after this semester should be at least at a 3.6.
High School GPA: 3.64

SAT Scores: CR: 590 Math: 580 W:640 Total: 1810
High school rank: 80/333 (Top 25%)

Worked at a private preschool since i was 16, year round, still work there.
Volunteered there for 4 years before I was hired. Worked two jobs this summer and has a couple other extracurriculars in high school.

Now here's the thing - my Aunt (who is also my namesake) graduated from Tufts with a Bachelors in British Literature. MY Grandmother graduated from Tufts with a bachelors in Education. My Grandfather worked at the school for 20 years and I was told he had a building named after him although I doubt I'll be able to find out which one. My father also took a course there a number of years ago.
How much do you think my legacy will help my chanceS?
I'd also like to add that I never had a first choice choosing schools as a senior. This is my first time applying to Tufts, and I very very much want to get in. It's my first choice and I love the school.
What do you think?

Your aunt’s attendance does not make you a legacy, nor does your father’s having taken a course there or your grandfather’s having worked there. Your grandmother might make you a legacy.
I doubt it matters as much for a transfer, though, so you should just take your shot. Anecdotal evidence has long suggested to me that it is easier to get into many of the top schools as a transfer than as a freshman. I’ve seen friends’ kids get into schools like Columbia and JHU as transfers after having been rejected on their original applications.
Looking at your test scores and academic record, I do have some concern that you might struggle a bit at Tufts, but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t make it through.
Good luck!

Thanks for the response - and I wasn’t sure what would qualify me as a legacy. It just makes me wonder if having these family connections to the school will give my application a bit of support.
As far as my grades, I’m ready for the challenge, I do think I can do well there. You know there are a lot of factors that contribute to a persons grades, I think Tufts will positively affect mine!

Thanks for the advice!

^I don’t believe it will help much, but you might be able to weave what you know about Tufts from your family into your “Why Tufts” essay.
