Tufts University Class of 2021 RD Discussion Thread

Accepted!
30 ACT, 4.0 GPA UW

so it looks like gpa carried more weight than SAT scores (so far) …

Rejected, 104.5 Weighted GPA 32 act. Science score (26) probably hurt as I was an engineering applicant, even though I did really well on math (35). Oh well. I guess I’m going to my state flagship

My GPA is on the lower end (4.26W) but I got accepted. 33 ACT

When do the FA packages normally come out?

accepted!!! 34 ACT and 3.81 GPA unweighted/4.3 weighted

Yay accepted!! 33 ACT and 4.65 weight GPA

Congratulation to all accepted!

accepted too!! 31 ACT and 3.9 GPA but now 3.85 (unweighted) lol chem sucks and 5.3 something weighted. I’m super excited!!!

Rejected to BME with a 33 on the ACT, 3.83 GPA unweighted, six AP classes, what I thought were kick-ass extracurricular activities, and I attend the best school in my state. Tufts was my dream school. This was also my 6th rejection. :’(

I was waitlisted. I thought I had a good shot of being accepted–I thought Tufts was a good fit for me and my essays for Tufts were my favorites, so I’m pretty disappointed. Do you guys know how hard it is to get off the waiting list? Should I just take it as a soft rejection?

Accepted! 34 ACT and 5.2 weighted GPA

Accepted and likely attending!!! ACT 34 GPA 4.0. I definitely got in because of my supplements!! Can’t wait to meet everyone at Jumbo Days!! This is one of the best days of my life!!

I don’t understand how I got rejected… 34 composite ACT, 4.0 GPA, 1st in my class, decent extracurriculars, great essays, applied as biopsych major. I’m sort of at a loss. I’m not trying to be arrogant and I know that no one was a shoe-in and I certainly knew I wasn’t a shoe-in, but to get flat out rejected? I just don’t understand…

@musicbooksandtea I have the same stats and was accepted. It’s most likely your incompatibility with Tufts that is reason for your decision. Tufts looks for a certain kind of student, so maybe they just thought you’d be better suited at a different school.

And I need to appeal financial aid. Got $0 FA, while my parents EFC is $16000. Nice…

@AllyssXx how did you find out about FA? I don’t see it posted anywhere

@musicbooksandtea look into the Tufts syndrome. It might help you. It’s the same thing that kept my kid out of Emory even tho she got into two ivies. Don’t despair

@ap012199 I don’t quite understand why I would not be a good fit. Personally I thought I would be a perfect fit. If you were to describe what they were looking for in a student as far as fit, what would it be?

@karenlovely Is Tufts Syndrome really a thing? Though I may have been “overqualified” which is bologna anyway, given that it was my number one and that I had demonstrated as much interest as humanly possible, Tufts was still my number one, and if I would have gotten in, I would have gone. If Tufts syndrome was really why my application was denied, that’s very unfortunate for myself and for them.
