I'm deciding between Tufts and Carleton right now. I'm interested in double majoring--one of the majors would be either Cognitive Science, Psychology, or Neuroscience. The other could be something like International Relations (or another social science).

I come from a very small private school. I'm from New York, got no financial aid unfortunately, so don't factor cost into your discussion.

Which school is better known? Which has a stronger international name? Which is stronger in Premed and IR? Which is stronger academically? Which offers a better overall experience?

My major problem with Carleton is its location. As of now, I'm uncomfortable with going all the way to Minnesota. But if there's an obvious choice between these two schools, I won't let location change that.

So, which of these schools fits me best? Which should I choose? If it were you, which school would you choose, and why?

PS. I'd also like to know why Tufts isn't ranked as high as some might expect in USNWR, at #28. Why is Tufts that far back?

Watch TheU videos on youtube. They have videos on Tufts’ social scene, academics, people who go there, etc.

And try to visit Carleton. I would never attend a college that I’ve never visited. You need to know if you’ll like the people, atmosphere, Northfield, etc.

Brownbear, you’re probably thinking of Brandeis or Bentley. Tufts is in Medford which isn’t that great but you can see the Boston skyline from campus so it’s pretty close.
