Hey guys,
So I'm basically making this decision right now. I love love love Tufts but I feel it's hard to turn down Harvard, which is obviously super amazing (also bc Tufts is about $5,000 more per year). If anyone has opinions on this that could help my decision, fire away. :)

Did you apply for Financial Aid? Meaning, could you negotiate your FA package with the Tufts FinAid folks?

Tell us more about what you want to study/do, and what you loved about Tufts.

The good news is that no matter which school you choose, you’ll be near the other one (-: From what I’ve seen/heard from D1, there are definitely activities (both academic and social) where you’ll find folks from both schools.

Here is food for thought. I will have more time later this weekend. Personality wise, it seems like Tufts may be a better fit. Have you thought at all about how you might leverage your passion for art into a career?

loveartforever, regardless of where you decide , can you please tell us why you love love Tufts?

from another post…

“but the physical beauty of the campus is actually exceeded by a wonderfully supportive, accepting culture”

Ditto…Can’t summarize it up much better…I visited campuses like Dartmouth, Cornell, Amherst, Northwestern, etc. and it was the "wonderfully supportive, accepting culture, that won us over!!!

I know a sophomore girl who turned down Harvard for Tufts (not that uncommon) and she doesn’t regret it for a second. Says it is the best decision she ever made, for the same reasons you state, the welcoming, supportive, caring community that is Tufts.

16% of students who face the Harvard/Tufts choice choose Tufts.

Harvard can’t be that unwelcoming, unsupportive or uncaring if 84% students prefer it. Can it?

Thanks guys!! Sorry I kinda didn’t go on CC for a while, but I chose Harvard!! I still love Tufts though, for its warm atmosphere and more down-to-earth feel (as well as the connection with SMFA ofc). But when I visited both I just knew that there was no way I was turning down Harvard, especially bc of the fin aid situation! I also toured H’s art department and it seemed really good (and people there were very welcoming and supportive)! I’m really unsure what I want to do with my life (or whether or not I do plan on turning art into a career), but I got the feeling that at either place I’d be able to explore that interest and more. Thanks for the responses!!
