Tuition and scholarships

So I’m a sophomore in high school, so I haven’t even done anything about applying for UMich, but I 'm currently on a college binge trying to get prepared for junior year. I don’t have bad grades (3.5) but not good enough to get huge scholarships. UMich is my dream school, with MT as the goal right now. I feel pretty confident on auditioning at the moment and I still have two years, so I’m hoping to improve. The only problem- the price. I live in state,so the tuition is less, but my Dad wants to pay no more than 5,000 dollars per year. I have to get AT LEAST 20,000 dollars in scholarships per year. I’m wondering if anyone knows any scholarships that I could start watching out for. I’ve done research and found a few but many seem to be random, like the DoSomething.com scholarships. Does UMich have talent based scholarships? Thanks

@Broadwaybaby713 They do not often give talent based scholarships, as it is a huge honor alone to even get into the program. Hope this answers your question.

Broadwaybaby713, I haven’t been on CC in the past couple years, but just checked in today for no particular reason, so I guess I am meant to answer your question! My D received a 4-year talent scholarship from them several years ago, and is currently a junior MT there. We were pleasantly shocked, as it was a very generous and unexpected offer. She would not be there without it, as we live out of state and could never have afforded the OOS tuition! SO there is always hope - never say never! However, like I said, I have not been keeping up on CC in recent years and they will have a new MT Chair next year. I’m not sure if or how that may affect scholarships…best of luck to you!

Scholarships are Merit Based - Need Informed! Merit also includes talent! The strong majority of current students are on a scholarship.
