As the mother of a high school junior dependent on tuition exchange (for children of college faculty, Tuition Exchange| Career Institution| College Tuition Exchange Program), I'm interested in where others have gotten awards and what their stats are. Just as importantly, where have you been denied tuition exchange? Have you gotten supplemental aid as well (either merit or financial)?

We are in the same boat. I recall having seen some threads earlier on either the admissions or the parents pages - you might want to search those threads. I know I’ve corresponded with some folks in the past, I can look up my pm’s and get back with you if you’d like. The only one I recall off-hand was Univ of Scranton, because apparently they don’t give any or many to incoming freshman. For what its worth, I have been calling schools and inquiring about how many applications they receive, what percent are admitted to the school and what percent of those kids actually receive the TE. You might want to try that out with the schools your child is interested in. I believe at Bucknell, one we were interested in for a while, they accept about 30 kids into the school from the list of kids who apply and sent in a TE. And, of those, they award about 8 scholarships. The only school I’ve received absolutely no cooperation from is Santa Clara Univ.

Good luck!

I’ve also been e-mailing schools, and have always received helpful responses. The percentages I’ve been given match up to what TE posts on their website. DePaul is one of my daughter’s top two choices and they offer 20 scholarships, with about 100 applications. Selection is purely academic, and if the top 20 don’t accept it moves on down the line, so I’m particularly interested in the stats of the recipients. Her other favorite is Flagler (completely different type of school), and I think she has an excellent chance of getting an award there.

She is a solid B+ student with a challenging course load, but certainly not at the top of the academic heap. I’m asking to her to apply to several financial safeties that offer almost all qualified applicants an award.

Good luck to you as well!

Mommom2, I think I saw in another thread that you’re looking at RIT. That’s now on our radar - have you been in contact with them?
