According to the TE website, Lawrence gave TE $$ to 100% of the students who applied for it last year. May that be true all the years! Seems like a lovely college.
Yeah, I stalked the list from spring of TE colleges with spots left for fall 21 start and Lawrence was on there. My son does not want to go to a school less than 3 hours from home but money will likely talk in the end and its one of the very few TE schools where he has a solid shot of getting the award due to low GPA.
Hi @Breagh! Yes, I agree, excellent advice all around! I hope your daughter is liking Tulane!
Hi,
Yes, she is now. They got off to a really rough start with Hurricane Ira. She really had no interest in going home and doing remote learning when the school evacuated after only a partial week of classes. We compromised and I met up with her in Oxford, MS. Had a fun 2 weeks exploring the area (never been to MS) when we were not working remotely. So all is good.
And Skidmore… has it been a good experience thus far?
I have resubmitted for TE even though Tulane clearly says …" we have never given it to upperclassman" Hahahaha … sometimes I wonder if they are giving it at all. Such a mystery benefit. I am still mad that they wouldn’t even setup a waiting list. Seemed a bit suspicious if you ask me.
Good to connect again.
@Breagh, good to hear from you, I sent you a DM!
My son just heard that he rec’d the tuition exchange from Western New England- full tuition! Nice to have at least one response!
Excellent news! Congratulations!
Awesome!
I’ll hop on the TE bandwagon as a parent of the class of 2022. I have a junior at at TE school (Wentworth in Boston) and a sophomore at a non-TE school (Northeastern also in Boston). Third kid is applying for nursing school and we are about done with application and have the following TE schools on our list: Salve, Emmanuel, Endicott, University of New England, Sacred Heart, and Assumption. Our home school is Roger Williams so she’ll apply there and the non-TE schools are UMass Boston, UMass Dartmouth, and Northeastern. We also have the CIC program at RWU and I think Assumption and Endicott are members, but I don’t really know much about the process with that program.
Salve still had open spots this spring for fall 21 so interested to see availability for next year.
Yes, we have CIC too, I had to request schools from both TE and CIC at my home college (2 different departments)
Funny we already sent in our TE applications and we swiftly received a letter from Salve extoling just how competitive the award will be.
I linked the list of Fall 21 spots that TE listed as still available in May 2021. Salve was on there. As usual, this will vary by year. Last year college apps were truly affected by the pandemic thus Im interested to see how things end up this year.
Keep us posted on TE acceptances and gpa/scores, etc.
Yes, I’ve often looked at that list each year for planning purposes. My prospective TE student is looking for nursing, which adds yet another layer of complexity of course:).
My s23 will be looking for TE and possibly music ed which adds complications as well.
Pm sent about nursing programs.
I know that Mercer University in Macon, Georgia has a good Nursing Program and they are on the Tuition Exchange. It was my daughter’s #1 choice, until we turned Susquehanna University and she just KNEW that was her school.
Fingers crossed on TE at Susquehanna. Decisions for the 1st round start to be announced next month (Dec).
another parent of a freshman here - this forum was very helpful last year! to 2plustrio - have you considered Catholic University? my son also did not have the highest GPA - but good extracurricular including music - and he received full TE there - just a thought!
Here is the process as I understand it. 1) Get approved by employer 2) Submit potential schools 3) Wait.
Is that really the entire process? We received confirmation that we applied from TE and from 2 of the 6 schools (but not the others). Is TE completely separate from the rest of the merit process (and why?). Just curious about the entire process. Any info is appreciated!
I work for a Jesuit but catholic u might be too religious for my more left leaning semi atheist.
Hes fine with philosophy or even some theology courses that encourage thought. He is less tolerant of being told what is right or wrong.
Yes it sounds like submit and wait (which has been my colleagues experience the last few years as well.) My concern is that TE schools are cutting back on TE approvals due to budget cuts.
