I searched for total fee for these schools but i had trouble w/ some of them :S
some schools don't seem to show the total fee by year...
for example, UIUC and U of Michigan...can some ppl tel me the full tuition fee (including living..etc)
also, is College of W&M $19800 for total???i saw this on website and i was really surprised cz i thought it was more expensive.....
btw, these are for OOS students.

you have to add the "tuition and fees" and the "room and board". Every thing else is just an estimate. Go to collegeboard.com for full cost. Just type in the name of the school in the search bar and click "cost and financial aid" when you get to the schools page. You may have to add the numbers up yourself, but it should give you the cost for tuition, room and board ect and estimates on things like books. You can also search for colleges by cost with their "college matchmaker".

It is more expensive.... read the fine print... right on the first paragraph:
"Estimated costs per semester* for the 2008–2009 academic year are provided below to assist students in planning for their attendance at William and Mary." William & Mary - Tuition & Fees

i can't really understand the W&M one...:S

What is there to understand. For W&M, tuition/fee+room/board = (14663+2522+1418)*2 = $37,206 per year. On top, you add books+insurance+travel+incidentals.

For UIUC, tuition/fee+room/board range from $34,788 for basic LAS to $38,940 for engineering, business and chem/life science. On top, you add books+insurance+travel+incidentals.

one school year = two semesters

Some schools show room, board, tuition etc by semester; others by the year. You need to convert to year. You also need to make sure the numbers are consistent with each other in that one does not include estimates of books, travel, incidentals while the other does. If you want to get a good average number, call financial aid and ask for the official Cost Of Attendance (COA). This gives you the amount that can be borrowed or given via financial aid for going to the school. You can then add your own particulars to the total. For example if you live close enough to the school, travel costs would be lower. If you are cross country, then you up the number. Special diets, majors that require additional materials, books require adjustments too. But you can get an apples to apples comparison by compaing COAs. Bear in mind the W&M and UI numbers are for out of staters. If you are in state, you can make out very well at those schools. For out of state, the costs are comparable. You don't know which school will increase costs more the next year, so I would consider the differential very close.
