They’ve also changed plans for use of the Nittany Lion Inn, which will now be used for housing and classroom space. The Eastview Terrace housing will be reserved (instead of the Inn) for isolating any students who become ill.
Students return to town in a bit more than a month, August 20. While generally quite mask-observant here (masks are mandatory for most stores anyway) we have observed long lines at downtown bars and eateries, mainly no masks on the young in line. (Many returned when allowed, because they are paying for an apartment they wish to live in whether or not there is a class) Gov Wolf has walked back restaurant and bar openings to 20% capacity again, which seems prudent.
None of the athletes returned to campus have tested positive, and are strictly quarantined. Marquee hockey has been postponed. Football plans are still unannounced but nobody truly believes there will be athletics at the expense of other things. They are hiring people to check masks and sanitize people at most major buildings on campus. There will be no visitation scheduled and it is unlikely admissions staff will return to campus in the fall, but continue to do whatever it is they are doing, remotely.
