This is an obscene amount of money for an increase. Sticker price for tuition is now $50K+. While they can be generous with need based aid, for those who they think can pay full boat, it is unfair. They have wonderful programs, but the reality is, the market is down (and probably will be for the foreseeable future). On top of that, the University does an extremely poor job working with the city to keep the surrounding area safe from crime. State Universities outside of NY (Delaware, Ohio State, South Carolina, Clemson, Penn State, etc) are becoming much better options. My second student will be going elsewhere.
Syracuse is not a state university, it’s a private school. I do agree with you that it’s an obscene amount of money, which is why my students attended SUNY schools.
Yes, I am well aware Syracuse is not a state school, I have a child there 
I can see that wasn’t clear in my post. My point was that there are better state school options (academically and financially) outside NY than an in state private such as Syracuse.
