Tuition per year

What is the tuition to attend at CSUF as an undergrad per year? Do I have to pay for room and board if I commute? Btw im a high school senior.

Tuition is $6870/year. You would pay 1/2 each semester if you are a full time student >6 units/semester.
Room and Board is for living on-campus so you do not pay these fees. The room/board costs listed on the COA link for CSUF is the amount that CSUF considers you would spend if you live at home and some parents do charge their kids rent.

You would also have to budget in costs for books each semester. Parking pass each semester and if you are on-campus all day, then misc expenses such as lunch/drinks, gas for the car, car maintenance etc…

Do we pay for books & supplies, etc. at the same time as tuition or separately when we get into college? And do we pay the tuition before we start the school year?

You need to pay Fall tuition prior to your Freshman orientation along with a student ID fee which is minimal. If you are commuting, you need to also obtain a parking pass which you could probably purchase during orientation. I would not buy any books until after your first class meeting since many professors can change their syllabus. You would need to buy/rent/borrow books required for each course, each semester but you do not have to buy these in advance and not at the same time as when your tuition is due.

There are also payment plans if you want to spread out the payments.
