tuition vs. cost per unit

I am very confused as to how the tuition and paying system works for college. I am a student who will be staying at home and based of the uci website is 22,154 per academic year... Does this includes the cost per unit for the courses you take? or is the tuition 22,154 just the seperate fee you pay yearly for attending?

You don’t really pay a cost per unit. You pay a flat tuition fee for either part time (10 units or less I think) or full time. So if you decide to take 18 units you still fall under the full time flat fee. This is your tuition.
