Need some help. SMU gave my daughter a quote of about $ 60,000 for 2013 tuition. We paid about $14K per semester last year. SMU's admissions office can't / won't explain it and I don't get it. My ex wife and I filled out a College Board questionnaire and all of a sudden the price doubles. If she has to drop out, my daughter will be crushed. I am clueless. Anyone with ideas will be much appreciated.

I am a little confused about the question. Here is how I understand it: SMU quoted you $60,000 as the total price for the coming year (tutition alone is not that high). You paid about 28K last year for tuition at SMU and you are wondering why her financial aid has changed?

I’m not quite sure what the college board questionnaire has to do with it.

My best advice would be to contact the financial aid office, since they handle financial aid beyond initial packages offered along with admission.
