They are school specific. They are all listed on the website. For CAS it is $40,100. Stern is $40900 off of my memory. Those numbers include fees already.

preemed,
I was just trying to figure that out today to determine if the tuition stabilization plan is worth the additional $1000 per semester. Supposedly there is a link to the NYU Bursar’s office for 2010-2011 tuition and fees, but it does not work. I finally called the Bursar’s directly and was told they do not know what the tuition and fees are for 2010-2011 yet. And this is expected to be made public when the tuition bills go out in July.

Working backwards a little for CAS, I found out tuition and fees for:

2008-2009 was $18,686 (17,615 for tuition and 1071 for registration fees) per semester.

2009-2010 was $19,382.50 (18,293 for tuition and 1089.50 for registration fees) per semester.

So estimating here that 2010-2011 tuition and registration fees will be a little over $20,000 per semester (looks like it should be over $700 increase from 2009-2010). Total “a little” over $40,000 for the academic year for tuition and registration fees (this does not include housing, meals and other costs).

However, final figures will have to be determined when the Bursar’s Office comes out with official #s (in July?).

Oops, looks like a current student might have gotten this information?

Is the medical insurance included? If I have the insurance from my family would it reduce my fees?

No, medical insurance is not included in the tuition and registration fees quoted above. My son is in a similar situation. He is covered under my plan until age 24 (age 29 if he resides in NYS). I was told sonny would just have to produce proof of insurance coverage and the school insurance amount in the bill can be cancelled out.

How much does insurance cost? Is it included in the estimate COA given by the financial aid office?

Basic health insurance was cited as $1261 for basic and $1963 for comprehensive (2009-2010 annual insurance fee).

Thanks. Do you know if the $1261 or $1963 is built into the estimated cost of attendance given by the FA office on that sheet in the acceptance packet? I’d be really happy if I could trim that ridiculously high cost somewhat more. :D

I don’t believe it is included.

I got to tell you, I am not an idiot, but NYU is making it very hard to figure out a “bottom line” cost. I wish they had a concise matrix showing the costs of tuition, housing, fees, etc. I am trying to compare costs to Cornell and it is hard!!!

mamma6,

I have to agree with you. It took me several searches and a futile call with the Bursar’s to try to get figures for current calculations. Note that I had to quote mostly 2009-2010 #s. You would think that all 2010-2011 costs (tuition, registration, service, meal plans, housing, health insurance plans, books, etc.) could be published already with whatever inflation-indexed #s they are using. Most of the #s are likely to be moved up by around 6% for inflation purposes. That is how I am estimating it myself.

But why not exact #s for the known costs, tuition, registration, service, health insurance? I’ll like #s to figure out if the tuition stabilization plan is worth it. Anyone with experience utilizing this plan? It appears it may not pay off until the 4th year, since $1000 fee per semester is tagged on.
The savings might be $1,000 to a little over $2,000, according to my best estimates.

I just checked my e-mail file from last year and found an e-mail dated May 6, 2009 from NYU President John Sexton announcing the tuition and fee increases for the 2009-2010 academic year. Unfortunately, you can likely expect a similar announcement in early May. If memory serves, there has been a tuition increase in the 3-4% range each year my daughter has been enrolled.

CASMom,

Is it 2-3% or closer to 6% for the ACADEMIC YEAR tuition and registration/ service fees increase? It makes a difference for me to calculate the Tuition Stabilization Plan. If it is the former, there may not be much advantage to paying the extra $1000 a semester to keep the 2010-2011 tuition fees fixed for the 4 years.

evolving: After checking my records, the increase came to 5.89% from the 2007/2008 academic year to 2008/2009, and 3.7% from the 2008/2009 academic year to 2009/2010. I believe the tuition went up 3-4 % from the time she applied (November, 2006) to the time she matriculated (August, 2007) as well, but I don’t have the tuition, registration and services fee, and CAS academic support fee amounts for the 2006/2007 academic year to verify the exact amount.

I believe we got a letter from Sexton last year that the tuition and fees were only going to go up 1.5% for the academic year 2009/2010 because of the economy. I don’t know what the projections are for next year.

If your child was enrolled at NYU last year you can check the “account summary” function in the bursar link available through NYU Home/Albert to get a fee and payment history. Our CAS tuition and fees total went from $37,422 in 2008/2009 to $38,815 in 2009/2010. That’s an increase of $1393, or 3.7% (unless I’m even worse at math than I thought). Also, the totals I’m citing do not include the student insurance.

You are correct. i found the letter from Sexton. No I’m the one bad at math. the increase was 3.85%

OK, Back to OP’s original question about the exact tuition and fees for 2010-2011. I just received a letter from the FA Office indicating the NYU Board of Trustees will establish 2010-2011 tuition and fees at an early June meeting. ESTIMATED AMOUNTS for tuition and fees for new undergraduates (different by school) can be found at:

[Financial Aid at NYU](<a href=“Applying and Planning for Undergraduate Aid”>Applying and Planning for Undergraduate Aid)

Oops, the link I typed in (copied from FA Office letter) just goes to the general FA office website. You still have to look around for the estimated tuition and fees. I wonder if they are referring to the sections on tuition and fees for Fall 2009-Spring 2010? Oh, well, hopefully, exact #s will be out sometime in June.
