So my financial aid, while decent, is still not enough for me to attend. More than $10,000 of it is in loans and my family makes about $20,000 a year. Plus, in my religion, loans with interest are not allowed whatsoever (dont ask). I cant take the loans if they have interest, and I cant give half of my familys salary per year to attend NYU. Its crazy.

But thats not my question. My question is, does NYU raise its tuition every year? This year, the tuition is $38,765 (not including transportation, fees, books & supplies, etc). Last year, it was a good $1000 less. Is a trend of NYUs to raise its tuition every year? And will they decrease my financial aid as time goes on?

Muchas gracias.

yes, I think they do. afaik they haven’t announced the 2009-2010 tuition yet. last year it was 5.8%

last year it was at the end of April. Also, different schools within NYU have different tuition/fees.

another thing to consider is that housing costs in the dorms can vary by thousands of dollars. Not sure if you would be a commuter, if so that wouldn’t apply to you

as far as increasing aid… Well, from year 1 to year 2 we got the same aid package. The stafford loan was more because is a sophomore. We put in a request for more more aid and got an extra 1K.

Don’t count on more FREE money to cover increases in costs over 4 years

^ they did announce the 2009-2010 tuition.

it’s 54k

(pretty sure)

It’s exactly $54,441 if you’re dorming. If you’re not, as I am not, the tuition plus other expenses is $42,690.

So, by approximately how much does the tuition rise each year, based on your experience? And will they decrease aid after the second year, or will it stay the same? I know, I know, this is all guesswork. But I’d like a nice estimate all the same.

the schools definitely have different tuitions
and there are many different dorm prices.

Chances are, whatever you think it will be, it will be more.

you can go back one screen and get stern/tisch info

last year tuition and fees for Cas was 37422. This year it is 39265. The increase appears to be about 4.9%. last year it was 5.8% Figure close to 2K a year increase in tuition.

I’m LSP, which I think falls under CAS.
Man, this sucks. To get into the ultimate college and have to decline because of money.
But I guess that’s how almost everyone is feeling now.
