Tulane Admission Rescinded

I was accepted to Tulane as a Spring Scholar ED. With that, I will be attending Rome for the Fall 2019, and Tulane Spring 2020. Last semester I ended my Stats class with a C- due to an Academic Integrity violation (cheating). This was my first offense in 3.5 years but with this my school makes us sign a contract. Although this is not technically a disciplinary violation, my consuelor has to report it Tulane. I am really worried my admission will be rescinded. Does anyone know there policy on this?

@2023tulanee13 Everything disciple related, including academic dishonesty, is reviewed on a case by case basis. It’s best to be proactive and reach out to your specific admission counselor. Tulane will always give the student the opportunity to explain their side before making a final decision.

Thanks so much for your insight. I’ve already drafted a letter to Tulane and my counselor and my counselors been involved in the process. Hopefully it works out.

Side note: One thing that will absolutely result in a rescind is getting caught drinking while on campus during PreviewTU, Campus visit days, Honors Weekend, or any event where you visit prior to starting your freshman year. I know everyone here knows better, but it happens every year and there is a zero tolerance policy on it, so hold off on the partying because the risk just isn’t worth it.

@AH1310 that is so true. Happened to a girl during my sons Orientation. And Tulane is coming down harder on drinking/drug infractions now.

Why, oh why, would a prospective student be drinking? If this happened to your kid, GET THEM HELP. They will not make it through the first year of college, ANYWHERE. AA, man.

Why would a prospective student be drinking? Because his/her hosts are offering it to the student and/or the student was brought along to campus parties where drinking was happening. This is not at all unusual. Don’t agree with it, and it is definitely a stupid move, but it happens at many schools, including several that my D attended as an admitted student.

I had heard of swimmers at UVT several years ago, but that prospective student chose ANOTHER school for that very reason.
