Just got an email from Tulane that I was invited to apply for their fly-in program. I was wondering if anyone knows how selective it is and if anyone else plans on applying/attending?
I was also invited to apply for the fly-in program. I thought “why not” and applied. I haven’t seen any posts that address how selective the program is, but I do know that they reached out to a lot more students this year compared to years past (More than 100 students compared to 2015/2016’s 13).
yeah, i just submitted mine right now. hopefully we can both go!!
What is the Tulane Fly-In Program?
“PreviewTU is an overnight stay multicultural fly-in program combined with our fall Campus Preview Day. The visit will give you a chance to learn about the diversity of Tulane and New Orleans, explore academic offerings, and immerse yourself in campus life. You can view a tentative schedule here.”
does anyone know when the application deadline is? if there is one?
i know priority is given to students that apply before tomorrow, but the deadline is september 1.
Do any of you guys know if they are really picky about SAT scores? Mine are really bad so I don’t know if it’s worth applying to.
I can’t find anything about my stats of people that are accepted into the program. i’m pretty sure if i was accepted my mom wouldn’t let me go (she hates that i’m considering out of state, i’m from CA) so i’m applying more to show interest in Tulane. i’d say regardless, just go for it! if you don’t get in, you’ll at least show tulane that you’re interested (which weighs a lot in decisions apparently)
@jellyjam123
Tulane has been getting increasingly more selective over the past few years. GPA and SAT/ACT are big factors. For th incoming class Tulane received over 35,000 applications and estimate the incoming class size to be 1,897. They had a 21% acceptance rate this year.
With that being said, the application is free, so you have noting to lose by applying.
but for the fly-in program, do you know any statistics?
Anyone heard back about whether they got it?
i haven’t heard anything yet, i applied by the priority decision deadline too
Update: I was accepted!
Essentially if you’re a high performing URM, you may be invited to this “fly-in”
““We chose students who were highly academically qualified, diverse — in not only a racial element, but also gender, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status,” Admission Diversity Recruitment Coordinator Toni Riley, said”
I got accepted yesterday evening!
I missed the deadline for Priority but still applied. Received my acceptance yesterday and already reached out telling them I’ll be attending PreviewTU
I also just got my acceptance. Does anyone know how many people they accepted?
