Tulane offers both a BFA and BA in theater. According to their web, students are admitted into the BFA program in the Sophomre year. Does anyone know whether HS students can audition for admission? My S's grades/SAT fall short of the typical applicant, and I was wondering whether an audition, upon visiting the campus, may enhance the probability of acceptance - assuming they allow auditions. Also, does anyone know why (from Everett's Guide on Performance Programs'), there are so few BFA students.

We have a BFA degree?

The above is my first reaction and probably a lot of people's also.

Yes, there is a BFA for theater or art studio.

hi there!

Well, I applied/auditioned (sent in a cd) for voice performance, which is about the same type of admissions. No, auditioning will not enhance your application unfortunatey (that is what i have been told.) It's a separate admissions: you can get into the university but not into music, or vice versa...but the vice versa wouldn't do any good. So, to sum up, tell him to work his butt off but then again i wasn't a typical applicant either. my sat's were WAY BELOW their average! (we're talking 1070 ) but i still got in. i raised then to a 1220 but still...that's beside sthe point. as long as he has a good gpa it'll be ok. And I hate to be werid but i've been rethinking tulane as far as music goes (or musical theater.) IT might not be the best school for that. Tell your son that conservatories like manhattan scohol of music (if his grades aren't as good as the typical applicant here) don't even look at grades! So, it's all talent based :P
