Which one is better for a major in economics going towards pre-law? Which has better internships and alumni networking
In what part did f the country do you want to wind up? If you want political economy or international econ, go Tulane. If it’s all about Law in the end, tell me where you want to work.
I want to either go into corporate law or intellectual property
Geographically, where do you want to wind up? Syracuse probably has an edge in New York State and New Jersey, although New York is actually the number one feeder state for Tulane, and New Jersey is fifth or sixth. I think the farther you get from New York State and New Jersey, Tulane probably starts to be more advantageous. Syracuse probably has a somewhat stronger network in New England.
Bottom line, and I know this is a boring, non-specific response: figure out where you’ll be happier and be more likely to thrive, and law school will take care of itself. Best of luck to you!
I think Tulane has at least a comparable footprint in NY/NJ to Syracuse, whereas Syracuse lacks a comparable footprint in the South, to the extent that weighs on your future plans.
My husband is an economist. Syracuse is ranked a fair bit better, but that may not matter for undergrad. The rankings are related to their PhD programs.
New Orleans is a much bigger city, so that can be good or bad, depending on your personality. Lots more to do in New Orleans, but I also know people who have gotten too distracted there and didn’t do as well as they might have elsewhere.
I know this reply isn’t helping much.
