The costs end up being about the same when the Tulane scholarship is entered into the equation. Pros and cons?

Tulane is smaller. It's located in the South, culturally very different from the Pacific Northwest. And while New Orleans has always had its own unique culture, it's still set in the larger context of Southerness. People stand when "Dixie" is played.

New Orleans is now in a unique transition time, as it recovers from Hurricane Katina and the flooding. I think this will affect the college experience in ways no one can predict at this time, both good and bad. If you want to be part of a city and university in a rebuilding mode, it would be a tremendous opportunity to be part of something you'll never forget. If you want an idyllic and inwardly focused college experience, unconnected to the city around you, I think the realities of the situation will intrude and "break the bubble".

What do you want to study? And what part of the country are you from?
