Tulane vs WashU in St Louis: early applications

Please help! As of right now I am a junior in high school whose two top choices are Tulane and Washington University in St Louis. For a few months, my main plan has been to apply single choice early action to Tulane, as extra assurance that I would get in, and apply to others (including WashU) regularly and make my decision then. I’m aware that, objectively speaking, WashU is the harder school of the two to get into, but it is early decision only, which intimidates me more than not. Now I’m starting to question if I should apply early to Tulane so that I can guaranteed get in, or early to WashU, so that I have a significantly better chance of getting in, but still not 100%. My main concern is ending up doing the latter but getting deferred or rejected, and then not stacking up in the regular rounds for Tulane, where I’m sure the requirements are steeper than in early rounds, where they would probably be lenient. Any suggestions?

My high school information so far is as follows:

3.67 GPA unweighted; 2010 on my first SAT taken in December (taking again in March); president of Latin Honor Society; officer of Spanish Honor Society; taking three languages, four next year; only one AP this year, AP composition (which I am consistently getting very high grades in) as well as a college level Spanish class for which I will be getting college credit.

Thanks in advance.

Do (normal) early action at Tulane! And then regular at WashU bc you don’t sound super sure and if you ED and get in you have to go. Also you have a half a year to decide so don’t think about it too much yet.
If you want more info about the two schools, I just started two threads comparing them (one under each school’s page)
I got into both, but ended up picking Tulane for a variety of reasons.
