I’m still deciding on whether to attend UCB or UCD, but I was wondering… how are the tutoring services at Davis? Are the tutors really helpful, especially in the math and sciences (i.e. calculus and chemistry)?

There are tons of tutoring at UC Davis! There are drop-in tutors available for math (PreCalc, all 3 Calc series, STA 13, 100, and 103), Physics (7ABC and 9ABC), and chemistry (workload Chem, CHE 2ABC, CHE 8AB, and CHE 118ABC). There are tutoring workshops (where you sit in a classroom in Dutton Hall and a specialist gives you practice problems in the topic(s) that your professor has covered that week) for the 3 calculus series, all the chemistry series, and Physics 7ABC. You can also sign up for group tutoring for: BIS 2abc, CHE 2abc, 8ab, 118abc, MAT 16abc, 17abc, 21abc, Physics 7abc, 9b, ENG 6 and ECS 30.

If you live in the dorms, you also have tutoring services in the student services center in math, writing, and general chemistry.

(and it’s all free)

Thanks so much for the quick response! It was very helpful.

I heard that group tutoring is only limited to two hours per week, though, if I read correctly. Then again, I can always form personal study groups…
