Twelve-year-old to start at SEAS this fall

Currently working on “a radar signal encoding algorithm using Costas Array based on Sophie Germain prime numbers.”

It does not appear that he is one of those that applied to all 8 Ivies.

He’s a good kid. He’s spent time at Cornell already while participating in Awesome Math. I hope that others treat him well and look out for him. My younger son took his first college class at 10, though he waited to matriculate until he was 16. My older son went to Cornell at 16 but graduated this year. It’s a wonderful school for a young student or any student really. Best of luck to Jeremy (who my son knows and respects).

After I started this thread, I noticed an older thread in the Parents Forum on the same topic; apologies.

On the other hand, I do like the one response above. It takes pleasure over other youngster’s achievements and coneys a positiveness that many responses in the other thread lacked.

Oh, I just looked at that thread. I think I’ll stay out of it. We know many, many children who have gone to college early (radically accelerated) and many others who have taken gap years. Every kid is an individual. I don’t believe in pushing any child. I also don’t believe in holding them back from their passions. Jeremy let my son know that he would be attending Cornell with great excitement. It’s too bad that my child is already off to start his PhD in math. I’m sure he would have liked to keep an eye on the young boy.

@NJCornellMom , that was a really nice and encouraging response! Very nice of you! I have known a few gifted kids and it is just amazing what they do and can think of! You have to pinch yourself to see if indeed it is a kid talking!

I’m going to start at Cornell this year, I really hope I meet the kid! He seems so nice, who knows, we might end up in the same multivariable calc class first semester!
