hey just cause 3/4 of the people that apply get in it’s bad school. wow that really make a school it does matter that its ranked 102 in the world and 89 in nation. Or has a great pre med program. Its the only school besides USC that offers a public policy major in the west cost. I will have a Med school what really counts its that take 3/4 of the ppl that apply get in .that my friend is ignorance

"if everyone at UCR is that rude then I’m not sure I would want to go there "

Not everyone, some are just sick and tired at the fact that others are always bashing on UCR.

yeah but it does have a bad image…

I don’t think very many people would easily say that it’s a good school in relative comparison, even if it is

A bad image?
I don’t think so… it has a bad image only among other UC goers. Other than that, I think UCR is quite respected.

yeah if you would have not posted " I still wont go there" then I would nt have gone out on you. Come on I want to be a tour guide I dont want to be mean just hate ppl dissing UCR

We are not rude bagels,
his comments are spawned from another thread where we went very deep into the negativity expressed with admissions into UCR. Simply put, if you are going to come into this university with a negative attitude which unfourtnately is cultivated at the high school level about UCR, then it is best off in your own interest that you not come here. Coming into UCR, or any university for that manner, with a negative attitude and outlook will by no doubt effect your education there! You might as well spend the money else where at a JC if UCR is your last choice or back up university. Now if you are to snap out of the high school mentality of “omg riverside? thats like the place for rejects and stuff and like smog” then you’ll come to see that this university has so much to offer and is simply amazing overall.

Now if you are interested in why I, among most of the students here on cc, are so enthusiastic about UCR then we are more than eager to share with you the facts and experiences. In fact if time willing, come on over to the campus and I will personally put all in from my part to make the trip worth your effort - not only as a tour guide but more importantly as a current student.

that’s deep man. I have tears in my eyes lol jk

‘if you are going to come into this university with a negative attitude which unfourtnately is cultivated at the high school level about UCR, then it is best off in your own interest that you not come here’

SSO TRUE!

just because I shared some sentiments do not mean that they are my own…

I meant relatively though, not absolute

^Agreed.

riverside isn’t the place of smog?

haha, jk.

As to the bad image - honestly it ties back into the “high school mentality” that most of you here have seen me say over and over again.
(I spent a good amount of time analyzing why ucr has a bad image, i received an overwhelming amount of reticule for picking ucr from my very high tier medical magnet high school, and when compared to what other students at other high schools say about ucr, i came to the theory of the “high school mentality”)

Once you arrive to the university level, you come to understand and very plainly see that UCR is very well regarded in the world of academia, so rest assure that amongst those who matter (ie professionals, Ph.D holders, researchers, industries, etc), UCR does not have the same negative image that we oh too often hear.

“We dont want you here anyways” kinda reinforced the negative image.

“if i get rejected by all the good schools”

dude seriously and which are the good schools may i mind asking? No matter what your degree says “U of CAL” If UCR is a “horrible” school then why even consider coming here. Have u seen UCR? I turned down a full ride to come to this “Horrible” none good school.

lol, ok cool news guys! (snaps out of nerdy mehedi mode)!

I’ve been rubbing shoulders with the engineering college a lot lately, and had the pleasure to meet professor Joe Norbeck. To make a long story short, according to him, and me too lol, riverside’s air has dramatically improved over the past years!! i mean dramatically!!!

where did it all go you ask? san bernardino lolll. thats papa joe’s next project to fix haha

bagelsbagels

WHATS YOUR MAJOR!!!

‘“We dont want you here anyways” kinda reinforced the negative image.’

Once again, a remark that rooted from a different conversation, and i take it you are not familiar with the antics of our buddy Jason. Believe as you may, but please do not put down our university, which we take pride in, to us without first experiencing it.

yeah heard the air sucked in the IE thank to the coastal wind effect all the S****t from LA goes there at night

it did suck before, but now it sucks over at san-b lol!

Bagelangels,

What Jason means is that if you don’t want us, we don’t want you. So the question is “do you want us?” From your previous post, it doesn’t look like it, and that’s fine, you don’t have to go to a school you don’t like.

We want students who want us. I think there has to be a mutual interest in both parties for your college experience to work out. I hope I clear that up for you. People are not rude at UCR but we don’t take jab kindly either.

bagelsbagels-You should never bash on a school that you have not been to or just based your viewpoint on other people’s words. You never know, you might get accepted to all your “good” schools, but if you’re unfortunate, you’ll be accepted to UCR and how are you going to feel about that?
