Twice as many males score high on the SAT 1 than females.....why!?

Stereotypes are just a stretched truths/half truths out of proportion.

Also, scientific studies suggest that men are better at math (on average). Those with more testoserone in the womb tend to do better in quantitative reasoning. Further proof is autism, where (I think) there is also increased testoserone and the kid functions amazingly in math.

Although most of the statements said are generalizations, they are mostly accurate. I would say that the SAT measures abilities that tend to suit males better, such as math and logic. Females have other strenghts just not tested on the SAT. Anyone, however, who says the difference is due to the test format and timing, is full of it. Females score more or less equally on the ACT, and the time is even more strict on that test.

Also, ironically, the person with the highest recorded IQ is a woman, Marilyn Vos Savant. That, or she just knows how to take an IQ test well and really isnt that smart. It's a shame though that all she does is write/publish brain teasers in a stupid magazine, Parade.

Shouldn't the technically smartest person ever be doing something productive?!?!

Heh, I found a site dedicated to proving her wrong: http://www.wiskit.com/marilyn.html

wow...even I used to believe somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind that there might just be some truth to the idea that boys were smarter than girls. After realizing that the only person in my class with an excellent shot at MIT and CalTech is a girl, and that I know many more brilliant women than men, I sat down and pondered this for a while. All the many things I have heard were running through my mind: science, history, the "bell curve" statistics, yadda yadda. I have ultimately decided that for all practical purposes, men and women are basically entirely equal in potential for intelligence. The way this raw potential is chanelled is largey due to society and has nothing to do with genetics. You can think that boys are smarter, then you meet a girl with a 1600 going to CalTech, and another with a 1560 going to Harvard, and another, and another... True, men have a better shot at being recognized for their intelligence, or gaining fame as a scientist, or whatever. REALIZE people, that fame and history books are NOT an accurate recording of intelligence of the sexes. They are, however, an accurate recording of FAME of intelligent members of the sexes.

Thus, women and men are intellectually equal. The end.
