Two days, need 2200+

Yes, I'm cramming. I have been studying for the SAT for 2 wks but not really that much, pretty much been half assed. I plan to spend these last 2 days crazy studying though. Im a pretty smart guy(no brag, just sayin) so I think Illl be fine but what should I concentrate on these last 2 days? Im thinking of taking 2 practice tests today and then 2 more tomorrow and other than that just reviewing stuff...Is it worth it to look at vocab? I only get 2-3 vocab questions wrong on practice tests and I dont think it would be worth it to look at those 3000 word lists to get 2 more answers right...I have the barrons, princeton, and collegeboard SAT review books. Ive looked over the barrons and collegeboard ones briefly. Also have the online course, so what should I be doing these last 2 days?

This is my first time taking it btw. I need a good score, gonna be applying to the Ivys plus Ill never hear the end of my parents ***** if I dont do well-_-

I’m not so sure if it’s a good idea to take two practice tests the day before the actual SAT. It may stress you out a lot. but hey, if it works for you, do it!

I think you should not stress to muvh at this point. Review some very basic materials, and just get some sleep and a good breakfast. At this point, it is up to the SAT gods whether or not you get that dream score. :P

I can stress and do fine the next day. I suppose it depends on the person. Generally, people take it twice, and the second time the score increases. So I will just second what others are saying and not to stress to much over it. Good luck.

Just make SURE you get a a GOOD night’s sleep ,and get plenty of sleep, a really good breakfast[ lots of protein to give you long lasting energy- it’s going to be a long day] and you get to the test center in plenty of time to check in. Additionally, take a drink and a snack you can eat really quickly on the way to the bathroom during your break. The breaks are very short. Good luck.

Just took a practice test. Looks like Im looking at a very good writing score(750ish or even more), a pretty good reading score(700ish) and a pretty bad math score(630ish).

What should I do to quickly improve my math score, I have pretty much 1 more day now…Im not even bad at math…pretty good at it, had the highest grade in all my math classes…Whats up with my ****ty math scores-_-

something i did that raised my score about 50 pts was made sure i wasn’t answering all the questions! I didn’t bother with the ones i didn’t know how to do, and this allowed me to focus on the Easy and Medium questions that i could get so that i could master them

^ Does that strategy work if your shooting for scores of 700+ in each section though?

Omitting a few questions that you are unsure about can give you a boost in points, even if you’re shooting for a 700+. If the curve is in your favor, it’s possible to omit 3 CR questions (assuming you got the rest right) and still get around a 790.

To the OP, I would recommend that you take CB tests, identify your weaknesses, review those concepts, and then practice as much as you can. If cramming works for you, fine, but for a lot of people it doesn’t…so try to keep the last half (or even quarter) of your Friday free from doing anything related to the SAT.

Cramming does work for me. Im curious about something though, Ive read in many places that you shouldnt really study much last day. Whats the reasoning behind that and not studying in like the last half of the day as the poster above said?

The reasoning is pretty much common sense: you’ll be tired.

I recommend getting a really good night’s sleep, relax, and don’t exercise as that can make you to be tired too.

Just go there and do your best… It’s just 2 days before the exam.

Im probably gonna have trouble sleeping tonight anyways…I did yesterday, and all my dreams were about SATs and **** too-_- lol…I was planning on running a couple miles today, shoudl I or not? I think it would help me fall asleep easier but it might be bad for taking the SAT tomorrow?

I wouldn’t recommend running the day before the test. I run cross country and track and the thing I always notice is the if you run one day (especially anything above 3 miles), you’ll sleep very soundly that night so it’ll make it harder for you to get up in the morning. Although running is a good way to clear your mind, it is best done AT LEAST a few days before the SAT so as you will have time to recover.
