Two Urgent Questions

<li><p>I don't find it specified anywhere that the Common App essay has a word limit, but Yale's Admissions FAQ does mention something about limiting it to 500 words. Can it really only be this length, or is that web page outdated, etc.?</p></li>
<li><p>If my teacher wants to write my recommendation on paper instead of doing it online, to what address should she send it?</p></li>

<li>Yale's site says "Please be sure that the envelopes sent from your school to Yale containing the two teacher evaluations, the School Report and the Midyear Report are all marked Early Action or Regular Decision. Your application will be processed more quickly as a result. "
The problem: only one of my teachers is doing it on paper. Will having on recommendation in print and one online lead to any delays?</li>

<p>1) The 500 is a good limit but a compelling essay that goes beyond won’t hurt you. If you drone on AND it’s 800 words, you won’t be making any friends

<p>My understanding is that the 500 word limit pertains to the Yale supplement essays, and that there’s no specific word limit for the common app essay. Looking through some old threads, the consensus seems to be that the common app essay shouldn’t be much longer than 700 or so words.</p>
