Typical Freshman Classes

What are the typical classes a freshman in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences would take? I know a class or two depends on your major, but I am just wondering the typical classes a freshman would take. I'm majoring in biology by the way. Thanks!

whatever they tell you about class sizes being <20 is usually stretching the truth. you’ll have your giant lectures with hundreds of people in it. luckily they do break down in to weekly discussion sessions with about 20 people (thats what they factor in when they discuss class sizes) that are usually taught by an undergrad/grad ta. you’ll have to take las 101 which is like an intro to college life course. most people i know hated it with a passion and found it useless. but, they’re changing it up so you might have a different experience.

since you’re in biology, you’ll be taking mcb and ib 150. i only took mcb 150 but afaik it was a huge lecture. lecturer is very good and you’ll learn a lot more than if you just took ap bio. recommendation is to take mcb 150 and maybe ap out of ib (really depends on your concentration). chem is a similar story. but you’ll be in a lab as well. its a big step from high school but people adjust accordingly and do fine in the end.

First year classes, regardless of your major, will be large 150-300 people classes with 20-30 people recitations led by a TA.
