Typical USC Student

What would you say the typical USC student is like? Is it really the University of Spoiled Children?

yeah some are, but most are not
i guess it depends on what school you're in

Can you go ahead and give us that breakdown by school?

well i just finished my first semester, and i don't really wanna overgeneralize, but i'll just rant a lil bit

first off, there are definitely rich kids (from the palisades, etc) who don't act "spoiled." yeah you'll notice that they have a lot of material things (nanos, sidekicks, polos), but they don't really flaunt their dollars.

some pre-med students are damn annoying. and i'm not saying all of them are, just SOME. and of course engineering majors are slightly geeky, but still fun (i'm one). journalism and business majors are pretty cool. a lot of the science majors are also pretty chill too. so basically everybody i've met so far is pretty cool-sorry that's so general, but i have a feeling that most usc kids are normal, not cocky or a stereotype.

ask others on this board for different opinions!

<a href="http://www.usc.edu/uscnews/stories/11925.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.usc.edu/uscnews/stories/11925.html</a></p>

to tell u truth, i dont really think (after a semester at SC) that it is so much the university of spoiled children or whatever. the lack of cars among freshman is one indicator of that. people wear polos and hav ipods but who doesn't nowadays. im very upper middle class (definitely not rich) and i dress casually and all and did not hav any trouble at all.. the only spoiled kids i do see at SC are the international students who i do come into contact with due to parkside and engineering. all these ppl are mostly indian or asian and man do they hav money!! ... but thats cause usc wants these students cause they dont hav to give em aid ... but yeah ... its normal ... i really doubt that u will see a big difference from high school in the way people act or dress ...

Gotta agree with yayaya, the Intl students certainly are rich and kinda spoiled. But I never noticed anyone showing off when it comes to wealth.

I havent noticed any annoying spoiled kids around either... yeah, their are some rich kids, but every school (UCs, Ivys, etc) that dont have their share of them...

The foreign Indian kids are usually kids of important government people in India so they pretty much have limitless amounts of money at their disposal. I've met a few spoiled ones, but most are pretty cool...but the culture gap is huge, in my opinion.

Theres definately some rich people @ USC, but they dont make up the majority. Everyone in general is down to earth. People know how to have fun, but know when to study too. The girls here are amazing too :)

Haha, that's funny what you say about the Indian students being kids of important government people. My Pakistani roommate last year's dad was very high up in the government, I guess. We'll just say he was successful enough that she did not have a driver's license (at age 21) because she had had a chauffer her entire life. :) She was sweet, though.

I think the USC student body is pretty well-rounded. I can definitely say that it is not the University of Spoiled Children. Though there are a few kids who are spoiled, most people I've met here are very down-to-earth and friendly. One big thing that everybody has in common is, of course, school pride. I went shopping today and cheered when I saw a guy wearing Reggie Bush's jersey!
