Typo in my essay

Am I dead?

Depends on the typo. Leaving a period off the end of a sentence - not too bad. Writing “I like to ‘wok’ the neighbor’s dog before dinner” when you meant ‘walk’ - slighty worse. I could also give you an example of a really bad typo, but I’ll hold off.

Yeah your dead.

This would be a bad typing error (not really typo)…

I don’t understand why people choose to re-read their applications after they submit.

Well i realized (after i got accepted to Stanford) that i forgot a period.

I can’t imagine that a typo would kill an application for an otherwise interesting and qualified applicant. Relax and good luck.

I did the same thing and I hate myself for it. For an essay for my #1 school too. I left out an “a” and a “the” and I just didn’t notice it. I had my parents read it a few times too, and they apparently didn’t notice it either. It’s the most frustrating thing. Best of luck to you! I guess we’ll see how our little blunders go… x[

Auto-reject.

But seriously…the admissions people probably don’t even read the essays that closely. Given how many they have to read, they probably skim or speed-read the majority of them. They won’t catch your typo.
