u bears?

anyone know what that means?? i keep hearing bowdoin people say “go u bears!” but i don’t get it…haha

bump. i’m curious too.

any current students want to share??

polar bears. school mascot.

right, but why “go U bears” vs. “go bears?”

does the ‘U’ stand for something, or just short for “you?”

haha i probably appear to have a negative IQ right now.

hahaha ya i don’t get the U either…

well, one is boring and the other is interesting. at least it got your attention, right?

It probably is YOU bears and not U bears.

It’s probably like “you guys,” but “you bears.”

U bears is in reference to polar bears’ scientific name, Ursus maritimus. I don’t know why that’s the cheer, but there you have it.
