U(c) Traditions

I read online that if you step on a seal on the floor of Reynolds at UC, you will not graduate in four years - or so legend has it.

I also read that Wednesday is "Shake Day" - you can buy a milkshake for $1

What other campus traditions/folklore/history exists? Chicago seems like a pretty quirky school, and I find this stuff incredibly interesting

Don't they have this seal tradition at every school?

Many schools have the seal tradition. In my opinion, the schools start that tradition so that the seals don't get worn out by lots of foot traffic. If students trampled on a seal all day every day, over time it would wear out.

Every full moon the professors perform a sacrificial ritual. I live month-by-month in fear. Not really for my life as much as the fact that I won't have a good excuse when my prof shows up for why I missed class that day.

just search of university of chicago on wikipedia. all the traditions are listed there... scav hunt,, etc

There are some house traditions, on top of dorm traditions. House traditions include Bad Movie Night (Hitchcock), swimming in Lake Michigan on the first day of classes fall quarter (Woodward), Sophie Day (Breck), Chili Cook-Off (Broadview Hall), and I'm sure more than that.
