Does U Chicago consider subject tests for application?

All the better schools will consider them, if you think they will help your cause; I don’t recall if U. of C. requires them. But lots of folks send more than the required two tests to those schools which do require them.

UChicago neither requires nor recommends SAT IIs but will give them “some” consideration if submitted. Understand UChicago is somewhat unique in that it considers test scores to be less important than grades, course difficulty, essays, ECs and generally whether you are the kind of the student that will fit in at UChicago.

as an aside, I know that Chicago’s former adcom, Ted O’Neill, had a disdain for standardized testing, but was curious if that philosophy has changed with the new regime?

There is not disdain but still treated of somewhat less importance than other factors. You are talking about a school that has the knack of admitting a lot of students who believe an exciting Saturday night is sitting around drinking coffee and discussing Sartre and Nietzsche (that is an exaggeration but if you are familiar with UChicago you will understand there is some truth in that)
