U Chicago summer session

I wonder if anyone went to any of the U of C summer programs for high school students (particularly their Insight programs). I recently got their catalogue and am currently choosing between Developmental Psych and Creative Writing. Does anyone know anything about the overall course quality, or the professors who teach them?

My D who is a junior this year just submitted her application online for Developmental Psych today.

I have no clue. I would suggest looking at the student review/comments part on the website.

I too have a few questions about this program. How hard is it to get accepted. On the website it says each Insight program only holds 15 students. Does that mean they have more than one class per topic or do they cap it out at 15 accepted students?
I was also wondering if it's worth the money. I can't really think of anything else to do this summer (and I would love to attend the egyptology program) but I doubt my parents would pay over 4 grand for this. Although We can afford it, my parents are saving up for my college/retirement so it's still a significant amount of money.

i attended U of C summer insight in 2005, for the law program. It was wonderful. As far as I knew, almost everyone was admitted. I'm not sure how many people apply-- i think some of the more popular classes are offered both sessions-- but our class had 11 students, if I remember correctly, and was the only law class our session. my roomie was in dev. psych and our suitmate was in creative writing... both seemed like wonderful programs (i was jealous, they got less homework than we did). Is it worth it? I think so. My prof. was amazing, the classes were never boring lectures, but wonderful seminars. There is a great level of freedom allowed, and you meet awesome people from all over the world. In addition, you get 3 college credits! while its expensive, i def. thought it was worth it.

wow thanks. I'll talk to me mom about it then

theatreworm,
How long did it take to hear back if you were accepted?

D was emailed her acceptance to the Developmental Psychology Insight program and is looking forward to it this summer.

i think it took about 3-4 weeks...

Got the package Monday! The program looks great and there are some interesting activities planned...Taste of Chicago, foreign films, fire works, etc.
