U Delaware out of state

I've been looking into UD, and have:
GPA: 3.78 uw and 4.56 w
5 APs and all honors by the time I complete senior year (I'm a jr)
ACT: 28/29
Also many EC with one officer position, National Honors Society, a lot of volunteer hours and all that...

I'm from NJ and the out-of-state tuition is double the price as in state since UD is public. I have virtually no money to pay for college due to my family's financial situation.
Does anyone know of current scholarships/grants I could receive and if it's even reasonable to apply?

And please give recommendations for other match schools if you can. Thank you so much!

The vast majority of large scholarships are given out by the school. You can visit the UD financial aid page and see what’s there. I would also recommend you look at the stickies at the top of this forum for some alternative schools that might offer some merit $.

thank you! i did mean current scholarships/grants given out by the school that I could receive (need or merit based)

UD is not known for giving a lot of aid to anyone, in or out of state, nor are they flush with merit money. Why don’t you run your financial numbers through their NPC and see what comes out.

Then Udel isn’t the right college for you. If you run the net price calculator, you’ll see it’s unaffordable. It doesn’t have lots of money for OOS applicants - as a public university it serves in-state residents first and even for them it’s not super generous with aid.
You’ll need to run the net price calculator on each college website, but you should be able to get need-based/merit (either or ) from: Clark, Goucher, Ithaca, Dickinson, Muhlenberg, Albright, Franklin&Marshall, Wooster, Allegheny, Hiram, Wells, Wheaton (MA), Washington&Jefferson, Drew, Providence, Fairfield, Connecticut College, some SUNYs. Of course, apply to TCNJ.
As suggested before, check out the sticky threads at the top of the financial aid forum on this website (“automatic scholarships” and “competitive scholarship”).
Since your family sounds like you’re lower-income, you can check into Questbridge.
Finally, this website is designed for first generation college applicants and below is the list of all colleges that meet 100% of your financial need. They’re all highly/very selecive but St Olaf and Gettysburg tend to be a bit easier to get into.

UD attracts lots of kids from our area (Philadelphia). I do know some kids who’ve been offered scholarships there. I’m not sure, but I think you need to get accepted to the Honors Program to get them. You’ll probably need to bring up your ACT for that. I don’t know how much the scholarships are for. I know at least one kid who won a scholarship to Delaware (his first choice) but ended up at Drexel because the merit money there made Drexel a lot cheaper.

Do you know what subject you’re interested in studying? What about Rutgers or the College of NJ? They’d probably be a good bit cheaper for you than UD.

Udel will not work for you. You wont get much/any money for them, yet the OOS cost is very high. Merit would need higher test scores.

Is your family low income?

You need to retest both the act and sat and get scores as high as possible

also look at some instate schools.

can you commute to any univs

thank you @halfemptypockets and yes @mom2collegekids

I see on your other thread that you’re looking at maybe doing nursing. How about LaSalle in Philadelphia - they’re known for giving lots of merit scholarships and with your stats I think you’d be a good candidate for one. The biggest downside to LaSalle is that it’s in a lousy neighborhood, but the campus itself is lovely and quite safe.

I’d love to go to school around the Philadelphia area, so I’ll look further into LaSalle
