U Mich Vs. Princeton

Reading through this thread, I have found GoldenBoy’s arguments reasonable and persuasive. I admire him for keeping his cool in the face of such a ruthless onslaught of ad hominem attacks, none of which substitute for decisive refutations.

The Michigan trolling on this board is absurd.

Reasonable? Maybe. Persuasive? Evidently not enough for the OP. Alaskadubs is going to Michigan.

GoldenBoy’s information above (about college origins) at best only suggests a correlation between attending a prestious/selective college and attending certain prestigious/selective professional schools. Correlation ^= causation. To show causation, we’d need more information like the data cited in post #54, but with the “N/A” filled in for schools like Michigan. This apples-to-apples comparison would then need to be repeated for other schools, to show that professional schools clearly favor applicants from selective/prestigious colleges over applicants from less prestigious/selective colleges, even when the latter have the same or higher GPAs and scores. Or, we’d have to show that something about the education at selective/prestigious schools can actually improve a student’s MCAT/LSAT performance.

Even if that could be demonstrated, it would not necessarily show that similar outcome benefits can be expected for students of engineering.

Sure they’re reasonable, but they were wholly conjectural. Even the OP questioned the relevance of his arguments. Yes, if the OP wanted to switch to finance he’d be better off at Princeton. The OP showed no sign or interest or possibility of being in finance/going to wallstreet. So, again, the relevence of the arguments were suspect.

Uh, Goldenboy probably commits more ad hominem attacks than anyone else on this forum…

Also, the most reasonable Michigan alum on this board is no doubt Alexandre, and as you can see from the posts in the thread, Goldenboy plssed him off
