This is an excellent question for your guidance counselor. You are in-state so your guidance office is going to have the best information how you might fair in admissions based on the past couple years and who applied from your school, who was accepted in December and who was deferred and then accepted.

Family income?
Family education background?
Intended concentration?
Honors or AP courses?

Most likely due to ACT. Take it again.

Again the guidance counselors at his school will have a very good idea of how the OP might fair in admissions. It really is not all that unpredictable for in-state students.

No one can tell you that except for the admissions people. Aside from your GC, you could also use the service known as Naviance to compare you to past applicants. Your ACTs are a bit low and your ECs are a bit average for the school, however if you retake it (or try the SAT), you could have a shot

My daughter was deferred this year with slightly better stat’s. She had a 3.98, class rank #2, excellent rec’s, essays, AP’s, but a 27 ACT.

My guess is that you will only be accepted if you come from a school or county that sends few students to U of M. As others have said, definitely get the ACT score up

You are definitely in the grey area that is hard to predict.

I have a friend who got in with nearly identical statistics, except he had a few EC leadership positions and he got in EA. I would work on your ECs and ACT at this point and maybe make sure you’re taking hard classes this year.

I’m a senior this year so my stats are a little out of date. I had a uw gpa of 3.9 and a 27 ACT. In State. A lot of EC. But my advisor told me I got in because I had unique essays.

@fullydingo and @achensj - did the admission come after a deferral?

With a 27 ACT, my prediction is yes, you will be deferred. It’s incredible what a 1-3 point increase in your score could do. Put in the work – it’s worth it!

Nope. I got in right away. On dec. 23rd actually. Oh and I did EA. ALWAYS ALWAYS DO EARLY ACTION.
