U of Michigan, OSU or Miami of Ohio???

It's always been my dream to go to the University of Michigan, and I got in, except I would have to pay complete out of state tuition since i'm from Ohio, which is expected to be about 40,000. It's such a great school in every aspect, especially since it's where i've always wanted to go, that i don't want to let my admission go. But then at Ohio State I received two scholarships, and it would only cost 7,000 per year and i'd be in the Honors Program. At Miami i received two scholarships as well, including the University Honors Program, and it would total to about 9,000 per year. i didn't get any scholarships from UM, and i have no need-based aid. i'm interested in psychology to get to med school to become a psychiatrist, where should i go?

7-9K for Miami or OSU vs 40K for UM.....honestly, I'm not sure its worth all that much. There's a lot to be said about how UM is better than both of those schools in pretty much everything, but you are talking about paying 120K for college that you don't need to. If you really want UM, then do it, especially if your 'rents are sufficiently loaded and you don't need the money. But if money is a concern, make sure UM is really what you want.

KB

No school is worth payuing $160,000 over 4 years when you have an alternative as good as OSU or Miami of Ohio for under $40,000. Same the $120,000 and spend it on medical school.

Unless your parents rolling in money -- and it wouldn't make a difference in terms of the family's lifestyle, when they could retire, where your siblings could go to college, etc. -- it isn't worth it. If you really apply yourself and seek out all of the options that Miami or OSU have to offer, you can get a fine education at either of these two schools. And if you get great grades, and score high on the MCATs, it won't make any difference in terms of getting into med school.

I agree with everybody... even though OSU sucks

miami is in the middle of nowhere....lol...i live in ohio 2 and i applied to it...i probably shoulda gone there for premed cause its more focused on its students with that stuff...but i hated the fact it was pretty much a campus on top of a hill in the middle of cornfields and that most people are middle class white folk from ohio....very nice campus though

osu...even though i hate it...id take osu honors over miami anyday

just my opinion from a guy who is also premed from ohio and applied to those very same schools
